"Fast, brave, and leading football."

On June 20 last year, the Korea Football Association announced the technical philosophy "Mik (Made in Korea)" that contains the uniqueness of Korean soccer.

The KFA suggested three keywords: 'fast, courageously, and leading soccer.' The KFA said, "Based on the history and identity of Korean soccer, we have prepared directions and guidelines that we should pursue together. It will serve as a compass for the KFA's technical plan. We should have ' ours' based on our strengths, weaknesses, and characteristics."

At the time, former technical director Lee Im-saeng had a presentation on the "MIK." Lee Im-saeng emphasized the connection and continuity of national teams of different ages starting with the A team. "In the past, A team and national teams of different ages moved separately. However, it will be different now," he said. "We will continue to pursue the trend of modern soccer. Our goal is to find areas that fit Korean soccer and draw a long-term picture while maintaining a consistent direction."

The goal of 'MIK' was also clear. By 2033, Korea will rank 10th in the FIFA rankings, and build up its capacity to advance to the semifinals of the World Cup or higher in the long term. Korea aims to achieve the best performance (the semifinals of the World Cup) in Korean soccer.
The "MIK" became a hot topic when Hong Myung-bo was appointed as the national soccer team coach in July last year. "I had great interest in technical philosophy as I was in charge of administrative affairs of the Korea Football Association in the past. I didn't finish it. I thought the connection between national teams of different ages is important," Hong said.

"We are at an important turning point," Hong said at the inaugural press conference on the Korean national team's philosophy. While it is important to achieve results in international competitions, it is time to establish a system for Korean soccer to grow and develop in the long term. The "MIK" has been unveiled. "We are going to establish detailed direction and system of Korean soccer from a long-term perspective."

After appointing Hong Myung-bo as coach, the KFA began to establish a "MIK" in earnest. It held a workshop to meet national team coaches and coaches of different ages. It emphasized ▲ establishment of direction and system for Korean soccer, recognition of the importance of ▲K League, ▲ discovery of promising players, development and interaction of youth system, etc.
A year has passed since "MIK" was released. As it is a long-term plan, there is still a long way to go. Although it has emphasized the connection and continuity between the A team and the national teams of different ages, it is difficult to feel a clear change.

Moreover, the U-22 national team, where the A team's future resources will play, only recently announced its departure under coach Lee Min-sung after a one-year hiatus.

In order to find "our own" unique to Korean soccer, we need to make proper moves. Now, the national teams of different ages have all been appointed as head coaches. The A-team coach Hong Myung-bo, U-22 coach Lee Min-sung, U-20 coach Lee Chang-won, and U-17 coach Baek Ki-tae have been appointed. Women's soccer team will be led by A-team coach Shin Sang-woo, U-20 coach Park Yoon-jeong, and U-17 coach Kim Eun-jeong. Attention is focusing on how coaches of different age groups will cooperate for connection and continuity.

Coach Lee Min-sung emphasized the importance of continuity with the A team in his inaugural press conference held at the Hermes Hall in Interbulgo Hotel in Wonju, Gangwon Province on the 4th. He said, "The A team is the most important team in Korean soccer. If you need a U-22 player, you should send him no matter what. The A team comes first. I have to try to send more players to the A team. It's one of my roles."
After the friendly match with the Australian national team under the U-22 on Thursday, he said, "I spoke to Coach Hong Myung-bo after taking over the post. We will have a meeting after the A-match in June. We will be able to have more discussions. We may have different ideas. We need to match them." 스포츠토토

There is still a lack of consensus on the "MIK." Even if the technical philosophy of Korean soccer is theoretically established, it is meaningless if it is not applied in the field. "There should be a lot of communication so that everyone can understand it," said Kim Seung-hee, executive director of the Korea Football Association, and Lee Min-joo, chairman of the technical committee.
